Frequently Asked Questions

Laser Hair Reduction

Do you offer complimentary consultations?

Yes! A consultation is a must for any client considering laser hair removal. During the consultation we will review your treatment options/expectations.

Who will be performing the treatments?

A certified laser specialist will perform the treatments and has all the training necessary to offer you sound advice and knowledgeable treatments.

How many treatments does it take for permanent hair reduction?

Unfortunately we do not consider this permanent (however for some clients it can be) because there can be dormant hair follicles that may become active during treatments or post-treatment. Because there are 3 stages of hair growth between each treatment, the area will need somewhere between 6-8 treatments for hair reduction. Results may vary due to hormones, medications, stress, ethnicity, and the area of the body being treated.

How far apart is each appointment?

Each appointment is anywhere from 6-8 weeks apart. After receiving a laser hair removal treatment, it takes about 2-3 weeks for the hair to actually “fall” out, then another 3-5 weeks for the hair to re-grow.

Does the laser work on all hair color?

No it does not. The laser searches for pigment in the hair follicle, therefore it does not work on blonde, gray, white or red hair.

Can the laser treat all skin types?

Yes it can. Depending on what skin type you are, we have the Alexandrite (lighter skin tones) and the YAG (darker skin tones) to perform safe and effective treatments.

Is laser hair removal painful?

It depends on your sensitivity level but overall yes. It feels almost as if a hot rubber band is snapping you, however, there should not be lingering pain.

Are there any possible adverse reactions?

With any laser procedure there is always going to be the possibility of an adverse reaction that can range from short-term redness, mild burning, blistering, scabbing, hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation.

Can you be tan/tanning while receiving laser hair removal?

No. The laser searches for pigment in the hair follicle and if you were exposed to sun (tanning beds, spray tans, tinted lotions, natural sun, etc.) the laser can pick that up and cause an adverse reaction.

Who gets laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is no longer just for models or body builders. Men usually have hair removed from their shoulders, back, chest, or neck, but not limited to. Women often focus on the bikini line, legs, under arms, upper lip, or chin, but not limited to.

Does my hair need to be “grown out” before my treatment?

No, you definitely do not need to grow the hair out. We ask that you shave or trim the area at least 24-48 hours prior to your treatment, stubble is ideal. You can also shave throughout the entire process, however, do not shave the day of your appointment because your skin is always more sensitive.
